A Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Combining Freshness and Elegance
The Estate
Established in 2004 following the division of the family Domaine Michel Colin-Deleger, Domaine Bruno Colin occupies 8.5 hectares in the Côte de Beaune. Under the direction of Bruno Colin, owner since its inception, the estate comprises numerous climats spread across Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay and Dezize-les-Maranges, with several Premier Crus in Chassagne. The domaine's philosophy focuses on purity and freshness, steering away from traditionally rich Chardonnays with a restrained ageing that highlights Burgundian mineral expression.
The Vineyard
"Les Chaumées" is a vin de Bourgogne from a 0.42-hectare terroir located on the border of Saint-Aubin, above the Premier Cru "Les Vergers". The name derives from "Chaume", referring to former fallow fields in Burgundy. The clay-limestone soils host vines planted in 1956, 1988 and 2003. Organic viticulture prioritizes mechanical soil work with plowing, while manual harvesting includes sorting in the vineyard to select the finest Chassagne-Montrachet grapes.
Vinification and Ageing
Manual harvesting with sorting. Ageing for 12 months in 350-liter barrels, with 15–20% new oak. This period is followed by 4–6 months in tank before bottling, allowing the terroir's expression to be refined while preserving the characteristic freshness of the domaine's style.
Grape Variety
100% Chardonnay
