Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chassagne-Montrachet Village "Vieilles Vignes" 2024 by Bruno Colin
Tasting notes
Appearance
This wine reveals a deep, intense red colour.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with scents of perfectly ripe red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, enhanced by subtle floral notes and gentle spicy touches.
Palate
The palate proves smooth and concentrated, offering an ample texture supported by tannins of great finesse. The whole is perfectly balanced thanks to a lovely freshness, stretching towards a long finish marked by fruit and an elegant mineral tension.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine will pair wonderfully with roasted white meats accompanied by mushrooms, duck, slow-cooked veal cuts or a platter of fine charcuterie.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this Chassagne-Montrachet Village "Vieilles Vignes" 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 14 and 16°C. This wine can be enjoyed now, but it will continue to develop in the cellar until around 2034.
The elegance and minerality of a rare Pinot Noir from Chassagne-Montrachet by Domaine Bruno Colin
The estate
Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, France, the Bruno Colin estate was officially established in 2003, following the division of the family property. Drawing on twenty years of experience alongside his parents, Bruno Colin, the current owner, crafted his first vintage in 2004. Today, the vineyard extends over nearly 9 hectares spread across five villages. Renowned for his pursuit of freshness and minerality, the winemaker produces vibrant wines that precisely convey the full complexity of their terroirs.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from old vines aged between 45 and 65 years, spread across four emblematic lieux-dits of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation: Bataudes, En l'Ormeau, Bouchon de Corvée and Les Houillères. Resting on clay-limestone soils, this terroir benefits from demanding viticulture. The estate favours a sustainable, even organic approach, including mechanical soil work and rigorous yield control to allow the identity of the plot to fully express itself.
Vinification and ageing
The harvest is carried out by hand, followed by a meticulous double sorting in the vineyard and then on a vibrating table. The grapes are entirely destemmed before a vatting period of about two weeks, conducted with minimal intervention to preserve the purity of the fruit. The ageing of this Chassagne-Montrachet Village "Vieilles Vignes" 2024 then takes place in 350-litre oak barrels, of which 15 to 30% are new, for 12 to 18 months. The wine is finally refined in vat for 3 to 6 months before bottling.
