Robert Parker

William Kelley

Offering up attractive aromas of blood orange, red berries, peach, orchard fruit and brioche, Henriot's just-released 2012 Brut Rosé Millésimé is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with fine concentration, ripe but racy acids, a delicate mousse and a long, saline finish. This is one of the more intense, vinous wines to emerge from Henriot in some time, and it's very promising.

Alison Napjus

An elegant rosé Champagne, layering flavors of ripe cherry, blood orange sorbet and orchard blossom on the delicate, finely detailed mousse, with lightly mouthwatering acidity and a zesty underpinning lending focus through to the lightly spiced finish. Drink now through 2027. 400 cases imported.

Decanter

After a worrying start to the 2012 growing season, a warm summer resulted in good ripeness come harvest. The blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay is all from premier cru and grand cru sites in the southern Montagne de Reims, in Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Avenay-Val-d’Or and Mutigny. Dosage was at 7g/L, and the finished wine was matured in bottle for at least eight years prior to release. Peter Liem: A sophisticated nose shows the elegance and dimensional depth that long lees ageing can bring. On the palate, textural richness and energy. This is delicious now but will increase in character and complexity. Alan Bednarski: Pinot Noir leads with ripe red cherry and blueberry mixed with liquorice, dried red petals and subtle ripe quince. Expressive with all-round appeal. Claire Thevenot MS: Lees ageing brings savouriness and power here. This is still on the young side and has a long life ahead.

James Suckling

Aromas of sliced ripe strawberries with pomegranate. Some granite and earth, too. Full-bodied and very vinous with firmness to the texture and fine bubbles. Mushroom, berry and earth in the aftertaste with some citrus fruit. Very vinous. Pinot noir and chardonnay. Drink or hold.

La RVF

The 2012 rosé is driven by red-fruit notes and a finish that retains some tension. It is well balanced.

Description

A vintage rosé champagne by the Henriot House that is both delicious and brilliant

The producer

Founded in 1808, the Henriot Champagne House has been growing Chardonnay grapes, from the Côte des Blancs, with passion, high and exacting standards for 8 generations. This noble grape variety will later become the defining style of each of the Henriot vintages.

Henriot champagne, greatly appreciated by the Dutch Court, would later become a leading brand among European aristocracy.

Henriot champagnes stand out due to their finesse, their exceptional elegance, their complexity and their radiant richness, thanks to a specific ageing period and a quantity of reserve wines for each cuvée.

The vineyard

Comprising a 35-hectare vineyard, the champagnes by the Henriot Champagne House are partly produced from the most beautiful Premiers and Grands Crus terroirs of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims.

The vintage

Despite numerous frosts and low yields, the 2012 vintage is a very high-quality vintage and showcases an optimal balance thanks to a lively acidity and beautifully ripe fruit.

This vintage rosé reflects the sought-after style of the Henriot Champagne House. The generous aromas of red fruits testify to the perfect maturity of the Pinot Noir grapes while blending with the elegance and finesse of the Chardonnay. An exceptional cuvée with a remarkable ageing potential.

The blend

The 2012 vintage rosé by the Henriot Champagne House is made exclusively from Premiers and Grands Crus.

The blend is composed of 55% Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and 45% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs.

The dosage is less than 8g/l.

Once bottled, this cuvée is kept for 5 years in the cellars of the Henriot Champagne House.
