Description
A refined and rich Médoc Second Wine
The estate
Situated in the north of the Médoc, in the west of the Bordeaux region, Château Potensac has belonged to the same family for many generations. This estate has always been passed down from mother to daughter. Today, it is Jean-Hubert Delon’s turn, the grandson of Georgette Liquard, to ensure and maintain the château’s standing, which is considered a true emblem among wines in the north of the Médoc.
The vineyard
The Château Potensac vineyard spreads across 70 hectares of vines in the heart of the Médoc. The vines are located on clay-gravel hills and rest on a limestone subsoil.
The wine
Chapelle de Potensac is Château de Potensac’s Second Wine. Elaborated in 2002, the name of this wine refers to the Chapelle de Potensac, the historical symbol of the estate located in the centre of the village of Ordonnac.
The vintage
A wet winter preceded a cool and dry spring. The summer was marked by high temperatures and was punctuated by rainy showers, particularly as the harvest drew closer, doubling the work of the estate's team. Harvested at optimum ripeness, the high quality grapes resulted in a fresh and delicious Second Wine that harmoniously expresses the style of its terroir of origin.
The blend
This Chapelle de Potensac 2019 comprises a blend of Merlot (59%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) and Cabernet Franc (16%).
