Description
The freshness of a well-rounded and balanced white Grand Vin from Pessac-Léognan
While the year began with plenty of challenges, nature worked its miracles in the 2018 vintage of Bordeaux. The vineyards of Château Carbonnieux were hit by hailstorms and heavy rains, especially in the spring. But the beautiful summer that followed lasted until the end of the grape harvest and allowed the fruit to reach a perfect ripeness and excellent health conditions.
At Château Carbonnieux, the grape harvest began on August 29 with Sauvignon Blanc and the yields were lower than usual, but still less affected than for the reds.
A Grand Cru Classé of Graves, the Pessac-Léognan Château Carbonnieux Blanc 2018 is made of Sauvignon Blanc (65%) and Sémillon (35%).
Product of a great white vintage for Bordeaux, the 2018 vintage of the Château Carbonnieux white was also very successful. At the tasting, the wine displays a beautiful pale yellow colour, with bright green hues. The aromatic bouquet is very expressive, revealing the sunny nature of the 2018 vintage, as well as the unique personality of each grape variety. The wine releases on the nose citrus notes, like grapefruit, as well as apricot aromas. On the palate, the wines seduces with its roundness, apparent from the attack, highlighting the "creamy" side of Sémillon. The freshness from the clay-limestone terroirs is expressed in this vivacious and bright wine through a bracing acidity. The wine persists with excellent length and beautiful balance. A great and balanced vintage of the Château Carbonnieux white.
