Description
A structured and aromatic red wine from Haut-Médoc
The estate
The Château Citran is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc. In 1996, the Merlaut family took the helm of this estate producing elegant wines under the Haut-Médoc appellation.
The vineyard
The Château Citran vineyard stretches over nearly 90 hectares. Averaging 35 years old, the vines are planted on a mosaic of gravelly-sandy terroirs in Haut-Médoc, with Astéries limestone and clay-limestone soils.
Winemaking and aging
Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled vats (stainless steel, wood and concrete). Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels (33% new oak), as does aging, with quarterly racking.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Merlot (40%) and Cabernet Franc (15%).
