Description

The vivacity and brilliance of a Haut-Médoc wine

The property

With a history dating back to the 13th century, the Château d’Agassac is a property located at the gates of Médoc, on the left bank of Bordeaux. For over 8 centuries, this estate has experienced major growth thanks to the involvement of illustrious families (Gaillard de Gassac, Pommiers, Richier or Gasqueton). The insurance company Groupama acquired the estate in 1996, which has been taken over since 2021 by the family group Beautiful Life, founded by Gérard Jicquel who also owns Château Fourcas Dupré (Listrac) since 2019.

Promoted to Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 2020, Château d’Agassac is recognized for its wines that harmoniously combine power and balance with fine tannins and a complex and refined aromatic structure. With a philosophy focused on innovation and the perpetual quest for excellence, Château d'Agassac stands out in particular for its bottles whose cork has been replaced since 2004 by a screw cap.

The vineyard

Château d'Agassac is a Haut-Médoc wine from a 25-hectare vineyard, one of the oldest in Médoc. With an average age of 31 years, the vines are planted on soils composed, depending on the plots, of gravel and sandy gravel. Strongly committed to sustainable environmental practices, Château D'Agassac has been Terra Vitis certified since 2004 and HVE 3.

Vinification and aging

For Château d'Agassac 2024, the aging process took place over 14 months, with 30% new barrels, 20% one-wine barrels, complemented by a passage in amphorae and stainless steel tanks. This diversity of containers allows to bring complexity and balance to the wine while preserving the fruit and freshness.

Blend

Merlot (50%)
Cabernet sauvignon (46%)
Cabernet franc (4%).
