An Iconic Rosé Wine from Côtes de Provence with Ample Body and Beautiful Complexity

The Estate

The Château d'Esclans is located in the heart of Provence, northeast of Saint-Tropez, with the Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop. The first mentions of Château d'Esclans date back to the Roman Empire, a time when it served as a lookout post over the Gulf of Fréjus to anticipate potential maritime incursions.

Château d'Esclans is an exceptional estate nestled in Provence. It is notably distinguished by its old Grenache vines, which produce grapes with more concentrated aromas than those from younger vines.

Built in the 19th century, the current château has seen many owners succeed one another. Since 2006, it has belonged to Sacha Lichine and has greatly contributed to the fame of Côtes de Provence wines. Today, it is recognized worldwide for its rosés, notably thanks to the Whispering Angel cuvée.

The Vineyard

Not far from the ancient Roman city of Fréjus, on the French Riviera, lies the Esclans Valley, which hosts the château's 44 hectares of vineyards. Averaging 35 years old, the vines are planted on varied soils, mixing clay, limestone, and sandy gravel depending on the plots. This diversity of terroirs gives these Provence wines a great richness of aromatic profiles.

The Wine

From the eponymous parcel, composed mainly of nearly century-old Grenache and Rolle, the Garrus from Château d'Esclans stands as a reference among the greatest Côtes de Provence wines, embodying excellence and refinement well beyond borders.

Winemaking and Aging

Harvesting is done at night, followed by manual and optical sorting. Fermentation takes place exclusively in French oak demi-muids.
