A Mercurey Village from Château de Chamirey, a fruity and elegant Pinot Noir from the Côte Chalonnaise
The Estate
Château de Chamirey, whose winemaking activity was founded in 1934, is a family-owned estate located in Mercurey, in the Côte Chalonnaise, in the heart of Burgundy. Housed in an 18th-century building, it is now run by Amaury and Aurore Devillard, the fifth generation of the family to carry on this winemaking tradition. The estate stands out for its plots spread across several Premiers Crus of Mercurey and for owning two of the appellation's renowned monopoles.
The Vineyard
This wine comes from plots spread across the commune of Mercurey, planted on clay-limestone soils with a predominance of clay. The vines, with an average age of around 35 years, are planted in the Burgundian tradition at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare and are managed using sustainable viticulture, limiting phytosanitary treatments.
Vinification and Ageing
To produce the Mercurey Village 2024, the grapes are hand-harvested and then sorted before entering the vat. The vinification unfolds in three stages, with a pre-fermentation maceration, a fermentation phase and then a post-fermentation maceration, allowing a gradual extraction of aromas and tannins. Ageing takes place mainly in oak barrels, a portion of which is renewed each year, before bottling carried out to preserve the freshness of the primary aromas.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from Pinot Noir.
