Description
A mineral Marsannay white wine with a beautiful aromatic structure
The estate
Château de Marsannay, located in the heart of the Côte-de-Nuits appellation, covers an area of 34 hectares. Shifting between 250 and 280 metres above sea level from the south of the town of Dijon to the commune of Vosne-Romanée, the terroir of the estate expresses, through its patchwork of plots, all the nuances and typicity of these fine Burgundian ‘’climats’’.
The vineyard
The "Cuvée Maizière" 2021 by Château de Marsannay is a Puligny-Montrachet Village wine that stems from an area named "Derrière la Velle". Situated at the bottom of the hillside and facing east, this 57-acre terroir lies on brown clay-limestone soil.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are rigorously sorted on a table. The whole bunches are pneumatically pressed and the must is statically settled before undergoing alcoholic fermentation at low temperature. The wine is aged for 17 months on lees and in oak barrels (30% new oak, the remainder of the barrels range between second and fourth fill) along with stirring of the lees if necessary, and an additional month of bulk ageing.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
