Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Tinus Pure Nature 2021 from Les Tourettes
Tasting
Appearance
The colour is a luminous, brilliant pale to golden yellow. The absence of filtration gives the wine a slight natural haziness, a testament to its production without technological intervention.
Nose
The nose is fresh and delicate, revealing aromas of white flowers alongside notes of yellow fruit such as pear and apple. With aeration, nuances of toasted almond and spice emerge, adding further complexity to the aromatic profile.
Palate
On the palate, the wine is round and rich, with a beautiful, enveloping texture. Flavours of pear and yellow apple mingle with notes of elderflower, supported by pronounced mineral freshness. The finish, ample and concentrated, is lifted by a mineral brightness that brings definition and length to the tasting.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs ideally with roast poultry or poultry in a light sauce, as well as delicate fish and seafood. It also works beautifully with fresh goat's or cow's milk cheeses. Its balanced structure makes it an excellent choice as an aperitif or to accompany simple cuisine that showcases the quality of the ingredients.
Serving and cellaring
Tinus Pure Nature 2021 is best enjoyed at a temperature between 8 and 10°C. This wine has a cellaring potential of around ten years, allowing it to evolve and develop greater complexity over time.
The Freshness and Richness of a White Wine Crafted by Guffens
The estate
Founded in 1997, Les Tourettes is a 15 to 19-hectare estate located in the Luberon, in the Rhône Valley, near Apt, at an altitude of 420 metres. The property is owned by Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen, the latter recognised as one of the finest winemakers of white Burgundy wines. When they arrived, the vineyard, degraded by chemical inputs, was profoundly restructured. The unconventional grape variety mix, including Viognier, Chardonnay and Roussanne, results in wines classified as Vin de France.
The vineyard
The Tinus Pure Nature vines are planted at an altitude of 420 metres, benefiting from a wide diurnal temperature range between day and night. This setting preserves the freshness and acidity of the grapes despite the generous sunshine. The soils, made up of ancient alluvial deposits of round, flat pebbles, limestone marl and clay, give the wine its distinctive mineral character. The vineyard is managed using sustainable practices. This Vin de France reflects the estate's desire to break free from appellation constraints in order to fully express its unique terroir.
The vintage
The 2021 vintage proved to be a winegrower's year, marked by climatic challenges. Spring frosts in April and rain during the harvest called for constant attention in the vineyard. Despite these difficulties, the vintage is characterised by lovely freshness, remarkable acidity and exemplary balance, yielding elegant, precise wines.
Winemaking and ageing
Tinus Pure Nature 2021 is made naturally, with spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately ten months in concrete tanks on fine lees, without bâtonnage. This method preserves aromatic purity and develops the wine's texture. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, in keeping with the philosophy of natural wine and allowing an authentic expression of fruit and terroir.
