Description
A seductive Pomerol red wine with a fresh and fruity expression
The estate
Founded in 2009, Château Fayat is the result of the merger between three properties: Prieurs de la Commanderie, La Commanderie de Mazeyres and Vieux Château Bourgneuf.
In 2016, the Fayat family carried out a rigorous study of the estate's soils to manage the vineyards in an ideal and appropriate manner, thus leading to the production of fine Pomerol wines.
The vineyard
Château Fayat watches over a 14-hectare terroir, of which 10.35 hectares are cultivated. The vines are 25 years old on average and are planted on deep Graves with brown soils composed of sand, silt and clay.
The vinification and ageing
Following the harvest, the grapes are vinified in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 12 months, 80% in barrels (50% new, 50% first fill) and 20% in vats, amphorae, egg-shaped concrete tanks and wine globes.
The blend
100% Merlot.
