Description
The delicacy and freshness of a Margaux wine
The estate
Château Ferrière, established in the heart of the Margaux appellation, traces its origins back to the 18th century. Since being taken over in 1988 by the Villars family, this 3rd Grand Cru Classé has embarked on a remarkable renewal. Led successively by Bernadette Villars and then by her daughter Claire, the estate is today run by two generations of passionate women, key figures of the Bordeaux Left Bank.
The vineyard
The Margaux terroir from which this wine originates is distinguished by deep gravels resting on limestone marls, which give the wines all their natural elegance. The plots enjoy a privileged microclimate, shaped by the proximity of the Gironde estuary. The 24-hectare vineyard is farmed according to the principles of biodynamics, fostering the authentic expression of the terroir as well as biodiversity.
Winemaking and aging
Winemaking is carried out plot by plot, with alcoholic fermentations conducted exclusively with indigenous yeasts. Macerations between 24 °C and 26 °C. Vatting of 22 days. No additives are used during winemaking, thereby preserving the integrity of the fruit. Aging lasts 14 months, split between new barrels (35%), one- and two-wine barrels (35%) and alternative containers such as ovoid vats and amphorae (30%).
Blend
This Château Ferrière 2025 is the result of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (66%), Merlot (24%), Petit Verdot (6%) and Cabernet Franc (4%).
