Description
A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru with wonderful freshness and intensity
The estate
Château Figeac, Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé, embodies the excellence of great Bordeaux wines the world over. Château Figeac has been owned by the Manoncourt family for over 120 years. On 8 September 2022, Château Figeac was elevated to the rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" in the Classification des Grands Crus de Saint-Émilion.
The vineyard
A benchmark among the great wines of Saint-Émilion, Château Figeac enjoys an exceptional location to the west of the appellation, on the edge of the Pomerol appellation. The estate's vineyards are planted on 3 different gravelly hilltops. Respect for biodiversity, flora and fauna are central to the estate's concerns.
The wine
Château Figeac 2022 is the second vintage to be vinified in the estate’s new winery.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage was characterised by drought and heat. Peak temperatures were reached as early as May, resulting in accelerated vine growth. The season was marked by cool nights and some welcome rain between June and July. These helped to avoid water stress. The combination of the estate's agro-ecological approach and the know-how of its teams meant that, despite these extreme conditions, the soil and fruit remained fresh.
