The typicity of a red wine from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux
The estate
Ideally located in the commune of Saint-Philippe d’Aiguilhe, Château Joanin Bécot is one of the finest references of the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, on Bordeaux’s Right Bank.
Vineyard
Château Joanin Bécot comes from a nearly 13-hectare vineyard planted to Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Rooted in a great asteriated clay-limestone terroir, the old vines averaging 40 years of age give rise to a great Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux wine.
Winemaking and aging
Plot selection. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks with manual punch-downs. Maceration for about 35 days. Racking by gravity and malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aging in new barrels (50%), one-wine barrels (10%), tanks (25%) and amphorae (15%).
Grape varieties
This Château Joanin Bécot 2018 is a blend of Merlot (75%) and Cabernet Franc (25%).
