The Elegance and Freshness of a Great White Wine from the Rhône Valley
The Estate
Founded in the 16th century, with origins dating back to 1560, Château La Nerthe is an iconic estate in the Rhône Valley. Owned by the Richard family since 1985, it is now run by Rémi Jean. A pioneer of organic farming in its appellation, having obtained certification as early as 1998, this historic estate oversees a vast vineyard. Combining centuries-old heritage with modern agroecological practices, the estate distinguishes itself through the production of great wines that reflect the full diversity and richness of its southern terroir.
The Vineyard
Located at the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the vineyard forms a single block surrounding the historic building. It rests on a mosaic of clay-limestone, sandy-clay and sandstone soils, scattered with the famous rolled pebbles. This unique terroir benefits from a microclimate of warm days and cool nights, enhanced by the rare presence of a natural spring. The estate applies rigorous agroecological methods, including cover cropping, eco-grazing and precise water management, to preserve biodiversity and soil vitality.
The Vintage
The year brought a demanding yet very promising harvest, requiring particular attention to climatic challenges in order to guarantee optimal grape quality.
Winemaking and Ageing
To craft this Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2024, the whole clusters, hand-harvested and carefully sorted, undergo slow, gentle pressing. The Roussanne is fermented in oak barrels to provide structure. The other grape varieties are vinified in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures to preserve their aromatic freshness. The final blend is made before bottling, ensuring a harmonious integration of the oak.
Grape Varieties
This wine is a blend of Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Bourboulenc.
