Description
A Pomerol wine of captivating elegance and balance
The estate
Founded in 1961 by Louis Rapin, the Château La Rose Figeac is a wine estate located in the south-east of Pomerol, Bordeaux. Since 2013, Nathalie Despagne has been managing the estate, bringing a modern touch with organic practices certified by Ecocert and biodynamic methods.
The vineyard
Located in the south-east of the Pomerol appellation, close to the Figeac and La Tour Figeac estates, the vineyard of Château La Rose Figeac benefits from a sandy-gravelly terroir particularly suited to expressing Bordeaux grape varieties. The 4.42 hectares in production have an average age of 40 years, farmed according to organic farming principles, with soil management adapted to each parcel.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested grapes followed by rigorous sorting in the vineyard and at the winery using densimetric sorting. Cold pre-fermentation maceration under carbon dioxide inerting. Plot-based vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks of 57 and 40 hectoliters, using indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place in French oak barrels (55% new, 40% once-used) and 5% in amphorae.
Blend
The 2024 Château La Rose Figeac is made from a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.
