Michel Rolland’s family owns the Château le Bon Pasteur, and this is the château that saw the birth and growth of the famous consultant. With a surface area of 6.7 hectares in the Pomerol appellation, it is the smallest but definitely not the least famous Bordeaux appellation. The estate consists of 21 plots on the border of Saint-Émilion, including one located just 200 meters from Pétrus. The grape variety is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The vines have an average age of 40-years-old and are planted in gravel-clay and gravel-sand soil.
The 2015 vintage is exceptional for Pomerol. The berry ripeness was perfect at harvest time and the result for this wine was superb. The Château le Bon Pasteur 2015 is a gourmet wine, balanced and elegant. The colour shows concentration and the rich nose exudes lovely aromas of black fruit mixed with notes of ageing: coffee, cocoa and liquorice. On the palate, the Château le Bon Pasteur 2015 is faithful to Pomerol with fleshiness and warmth balanced with a very lovely freshness and precision. A wine with a lot of potential.
