Description
The structure and aromatic brilliance of a Fronsac red wine
The estate
Owned by the Hervé family, with its debut vintage in 1890, Château Moulin Haut-Laroque is located in the Fronsac appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. Driven by the ambition of the Hervé family and equipped with a cutting-edge, modern vat room, the property is one of the jewels of the Fronsac appellation, producing wines that offer pure expressions of this great terroir.
The vineyard
Château Moulin Haut-Laroque 2021 is a Fronsac wine that stems from a 16.01-hectare vineyard. The vines are 55 years old on average and are planted on sloping hillsides. The soil is composed of clay and limestone and enjoys an excellent exposure.
The wine
Following the passing of Jean-Noël Hervé, 2021 is the first vintage made by his sons, Thomas and Frédéric.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are sorted three times with total destemming and handling the grapes entirely by gravity flow. Vinification is carried out without sulphur in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Fermentation takes place exclusively in barrels with extra-fine grains. The wine is aged for 18 months in new barrels (40%) as well as one and two-year-old barrels.
The blend
Château Moulin Haut-Laroque 2021 comprises a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
