Description

A red wine from Pauillac with an imposing structure

A red wine produced in the Pauillac appellation, Château Pontet-Canet is a 5ème cru classé. Aged 40 to 45 years on average, the vineyard spreads over an area of 81 hectares, with a soil composed of Quaternary gravel. The wine is aged in oak barrels (of which 60% are new) for 16 months.

With its very intense red colour, Château Pontet-Canet 2003 offers a powerful nose with superb balance between fruit (blackberry, raspberry) and ageing in wood (licorice, toasted notes). On the palate, the attack perfectly combines amplitude and sweetness. This superbly long wine reveals an incredible structure - which is found in the best Pauillac wines - and tannins without roughness. The finish is soft and of a magnificent length.
