Description
The richness of a complex and silky Moulis wine
A prestigious reference of the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, Château Poujeaux has achieved a very successful 2018 vintage.
Owned by the Cuvelier family for the past 10 years, Château Poujeaux has shown great ambition through its rise to the top. The philosophy of this estate is based on enormous respect for the vineyard, which helps reveal the complexity of this terroir through wines that truly reflect the identity of the Moulis appellation.
A challenging vintage, 2018 required great effort on the part of the technical teams of the property, due to the rainy and mild spring, which brought strong mildew pressure. After this technical season, the sun finally came out in July and continued to shine until October, with beautiful high temperatures. As soon as they arrived at the cellar, the harvested grapes promised a beautiful vintage. The grapes were rich in aromas, with a nice concentration and superb tannins.
Blending Merlot (52%), Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Petit Verdot (5%) and Cabernet Franc (3%), the Château Grand Poujeaux 2018 offers the experience of a superb Moulis. At the tasting, the Château Grand Poujeaux 2018 displays a deep garnet colour. With its great aromatic richness, the bouquet reveals complex notes of red and black fruit. The very subtle wine envelopes the palate with its opulence and complexity, revealing a silky tannic structure. With great elegance and finesse, the palate persists long into the finish. A very nice vintage of Château Poujeaux.
