A Provence rosé wine by Château Saint-Maur that elegantly expresses the richness of its terroir

The estate

Roger Zannier, owner of Quinta do Pessegueiro in the Douro region for over 25 years, acquired Château Saint-Maur in 2011 with the ambition of making it a benchmark for Provence wines. Located a few kilometres from Saint-Tropez, Château Saint-Maur has been a Cru Classé since 1955.

The vineyard

With a surface area of around one hundred hectares, the vineyard is located within the Côtes de Provence appellation on a clay-limestone soil rich in schist and quartz.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes are cold-macerated at low temperature, followed by ageing period in stainless steel tanks.

The blend

Château Saint-Maur's 2020 L’Excellence rosé wine comprises a blend of Grenache (40%), Syrah (30%), Cinsault (20%), Mourvèdre (5%), Tibouren (2%), Rolle (2%) and Carignan (1%).

The tasting

Colour

A clear wine with a pale pink colour and salmon hues.

Nose

Powerful and complex, the nose blends notes of mango, vine peach and citrus fruit.

Palate

The palate reveals elegant and fresh peach aromas sustained by a gourmet salinity on the finish.

Food and wine pairing

Château Saint-Maur's 2020 L’Excellence rosé wine pairs beautifully with meats (hanger steak and calf sweetbreads with girolle mushroom sauce), vegetables (courgette flowers stuffed with Broccio cheese), fish (grilled red mullet served with a Creole sauce, tuna steak with herbs) or even cheeses and desserts (mozzarella di Buffala, lychee sorbet).

For an optimal tasting experience, serve at 6° C.
