Description
An aromatic and delicate Haut-Médoc wine
The estate
The first vines of Château Sénéjac were planted in the 16th century. This estate has belonged to the Bignon-Cordier family since 1999 and represents a very important reference in the Haut-Médoc appellation.
The vineyard
A luxuriant setting for biodiversity, Château Sénéjac produces Haut-Médoc wines that stem from a 38.5-hectare vineyard. The vines are 35 years old on average and are planted in Pyrenean gravel soils deposited during the Quaternary on a clay-gravelly outcropping of Pian-Médoc. These gravel soils provide effective soil drainage and help regulate the water stress suffered by the vine in the event of a lack of water.
Vinification and ageing
Manual and mechanical harvesting, along with successive sorting. Vinification in stainless steel vats. The wine is aged for 15 months in barrels, 30% of which are new.
The blend
Château Sénéjac 2021 comprises a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (62%), Merlot (27%), Petit Verdot (6%) and Cabernet Franc (5%).
