Description
A delicate and aromatic Margaux red wine
The estate
Owned by the Miailhe family for over 160 years, Château Siran is one of the emblematic references in the Margaux appellation. Château Siran was already renowned for the quality of its wines in the 18th century.
The vineyard
Château Siran 2021 is a Margaux wine that stems from a 25-hectare vineyard which is superbly situated on gravel and pebble soils. The vines are 37 years old on average and are planted on outcroppings of old alluvial soils, covered with fine clayey gravel. The vineyard is managed using sustainable viticultural practices and without chemical herbicides.
Vinification and ageing
Hand-picked in small crates, the grapes are sorted on the vine and on sorting tables in the cellar. Vinification by plot. Fermentation is carried out in 60 to 180-hl temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with pumping over and delestage depending on the batch. Maceration at 28-30°C followed by vatting for 18 to 24 days. Malolactic fermentation is done partly in barrels. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (35% new).
The blend
Château Siran 2021 comprises a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (28%), Petit Verdot (11%) and Cabernet Franc (1%).
