Description
The finesse and expression of a red wine from Pomerol
The estate
Located at the heart of Pomerol, Clos L’Église was recognised as one of the most expansive vineyards during the 18th century. Repurchased in 1997 by Sylviane Garcin Cathiard, sister of Daniel Cathiard, who owns Smith Haut-Lafitte, the estate is now under the management of Hélène Garcin Cathiard and Patrice Lévêque.
The vineyard
The vineyard at Clos l’Église is spread over 5.89 hectares on a clayey-gravelly terroir.
Winemaking and ageing
Manually harvested, the grapes are vinified in stainless steel vats. Ageing lasts for 18 to 24 months in French oak barrels.
Blend
The 2020 Clos l’Église is made of a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%).
