Description
Clos René 2016: a Pomerol with light tannins
The Clos René is a red wine from a 15-hectare vineyard in the Pomerol appellation. The vines have an average age of 35 years, and are planted in gravel-sand soils on an iron oxide subsoil. The estate has a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. The ageing at Clos René 2016 is carried out in oak barrels for 18 months.
Fairly subtle on the nose, the Clos René 2016 reveals on the palate light tannins and tasty touches of black fruit (blackberry and blueberry). On the finish, the oak is superbly integrated and we can notice subtle truffle notes. It can be enjoyed up until 2027.
