Description
A refined and balanced Saint-Julien Second Vin
The estate
A 4th Classified Growth of Saint-Julien, Château Talbot is one of the most iconic references of the Médoc. Acquired by Desire Cordier in 1918, Château Talbot is today managed by Nancy Bignon-Cordier and her husband, Jean-Paul Bignon.
The vineyard
Situated in the heart of the appellation, Château Talbot produces fine Saint-Julien wines that stem from a 93.8-hectares single-block vineyard. The vines dedicated to the production of the estate's Second Wine, which are 28 years old on average, enjoy an ideal location on the banks of the Gironde estuary and rest on ridges of Medoc gravel and alluvial deposits.
The wine
Released in the 1960s, Connétable Talbot is one of the very first second wines of the Médoc. Made from young vines, Connétable Talbot by Château Talbot seduces lovers of fine Médoc wines with its classic style, its combination of elegance and precision, and its nice, fresh length on the palate.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and then sorted successively (manually, optically or densimetrically) before vinification in stainless steel vats. The wine is aged exclusively in barrels.
The blend
Connétable Talbot 2021 comprises a blend of Merlot (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%).
