The Elegance and Purity of a Great White Meursault
The Estate
Founded in 1879 by a former distiller, Domaine Albert Grivault is a historic estate located at the heart of Burgundy. This roughly six-hectare vineyard spans renowned terroirs of the Côte de Beaune. Today, the estate is run by the founder's descendants, Claire Bardet and Henri-Marc Bardet, who continue an unbroken family legacy. The domaine stands out for its traditional, pared-back approach to winemaking, seeking aromatic purity and tension. Domaine Albert Grivault is particularly renowned for its iconic climats and classic style.
The Vineyard
The Clos du Murger plot is located in the centre of the village of Meursault. Enclosed by walls, it benefits from a microclimate sheltered from cold winds and a south-west exposure that favours optimal grape ripening. The vines, cultivated according to highly sustainable viticultural practices, thrive on a soil composed of hard limestone from the central hillock and clay. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand.
Winemaking and Ageing
The 2024 Meursault Village "Clos du Murger" is crafted through gentle pressing followed by alcoholic fermentation in oak barrels. The estate distinguishes itself through rigorous control of cellar temperature, kept at around 16.5 °C, allowing for natural malolactic fermentation. Ageing takes place in Burgundy barrels for approximately eleven months, with very limited use of bâtonnage in order to preserve the wine's tension and minerality.
Grape Variety
100% Chardonnay.
