A balanced and elegant red with a meaty edge to the dark cherries, Mediterranean herbs and cloves. Medium- to full-bodied with fine and firm tannins. Structured and textured with a core of dark cherries, licorice and dried herbs. Flavorful finish. Drink or hold.

Medium deep garnet colour. The nose blends sweet plum, red berries, garrigue and pepper with mild oak. Medium weight on the palate, spicy flavours with youthful fruit, a tannic grip but no hard edges and a fairly long finish.

The Estate

An iconic name in Faugères, Domaine Bardi d’Alquier has more than 150 years of history. Today, the Alquier family still runs the estate and strives to convey the finest expression of this great Languedoc terroir.

The Vineyard

Les Bastides d’Alquier is a Faugères wine made from 12 hectares of vines planted on hard schist soils at the top of the slopes. These old vines, averaging 65 years of age, are planted at altitudes between 300 and 350 metres.

Winemaking and Ageing

Partial destemming, long maceration and pumping over. Aged for 16 to 18 months in barrels (40% new).

Blend

Les Bastides D'Alquier 2019 from Domaine Bardi d'Alquier is a blend of Syrah and Grenache.
