Characteristics and tasting tips for Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 2024
Tasting
Nose
The nose reveals notes of white-fleshed fruit, candied citrus and delicate floral hints. Springtime fragrances reminiscent of hawthorn and honeysuckle also come through.
Palate
The palate stands out for its unctuous mouthfeel and full-bodied structure. The balance between richness and freshness is remarkable, offering a texture that is both ample and taut. The acidity, intense yet caressing, brings a lovely vibrancy that carries through to a harmonious finish.
Food and wine pairings
This great white from Pessac-Léognan will pair perfectly with soft cheeses such as Camembert or Brie. It is also ideal as an aperitif or alongside white fish, white meat and Asian dishes such as sushi.

The estate
Founded in the 16th century under the name Chivaley, Domaine de Chevalier is a flagship of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Since 1983, Olivier Bernard has upheld a winemaking tradition of excellence. The estate stands out for its unique terroir of gravel, sand and clay, and for its single-block vineyard. It produces high-quality red and white wines, all from the same terroir, and is recognised as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves.
The vineyard
Located in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the Domaine de Chevalier vineyard covers 67 hectares, 7 of which are dedicated to white grape varieties. The vines thrive on gravelly soil over a clay-gravel subsoil, an ideal terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon, which makes up the majority of the plantings. The most prestigious plots are home to 50-year-old Cabernet vines, which bring concentration and complexity to the wine.
The vintage
The mild, wet winter gave way to an early spring marked by persistent rain but fortunately spared by frost. These damp conditions encouraged rapid, generous growth across all grape varieties. Mildew pressure was kept under control thanks to the teams’ meticulous work. Flowering took place in ideal conditions, followed by a dry summer that was warm enough in July and August to allow optimal ripening. The return of rain in early September did not compromise the quality of the white grapes, which were already fully ripe and harvested in time.
Winemaking and ageing
Hand-harvested in several passes to pick only the berries at optimal ripeness. Cold settling before fermentation in barrels. Ageing continues in oak casks, one third of them new, for 16 to 18 months.
Blend
70% Sauvignon and 30% Sémillon.
