The mineral and fruity expression of a Savoie wine by Domaine des Ardoisières
The estate
Nestled in the heart of the French Alps, Domaine des Ardoisières was created in 1998 to restore abandoned hillsides in Savoie. The estate is now run by Brice Omont, majority manager since 2005. Cultivating a 24-hectare vineyard using biodynamic methods, the estate is distinguished by its commitment to showcasing indigenous grape varieties through unique blends. Domaine des Ardoisières has thus become an essential reference, raising the wines of the region to the highest levels of international recognition.
The vineyard
Classified as IGP Vin des Allobroges, this wine comes exclusively from the terroir of Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy. The vines, cultivated biodynamically, flourish at approximately 400 metres of altitude on slopes facing west and south. The soils consist of schistose marl and clay-limestone scree, providing the vines with an ideal environment for slow, optimal grape ripening.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. After partial destemming, fermentation of the Argile Rouge 2024 begins naturally through indigenous yeasts. Aging then takes place over approximately nine months, split between concrete vats and old barrels, allowing the wine to refine while preserving its freshness. A light filtration is carried out before bottling.
Grape varieties
This wine is made from a blend of Gamay (65%), Mondeuse Noire (25%) and Persan (10%).
