Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Fuées" 2023 Domaine Faiveley
Tasting
Colour
The glass reveals a beautiful red colour.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet stands out for its complexity, blending intense aromas of ripe red and black fruit with subtle smoky and toasted notes, the result of meticulously mastered ageing.
Palate
The soft, elegant attack gives way to a palate revealing lovely volume and firm structure. The whole shines with its finesse, supported by silky, refined tannins, offering a sophisticated balance between fruit intensity and textural delicacy.
Food and Wine Pairing
Wonderfully versatile, this wine pairs beautifully with delicate dishes such as sautéed mushrooms, truffle-based preparations or fish like John Dory. It also enhances poultry, particularly duck with fruit, or refined veal dishes. After a few years of ageing, it will ideally accompany more robust meats such as venison or wild boar. When it comes to cheese, opt for soft-rind varieties such as Brillat-Savarin, Reblochon, well-aged Brie de Meaux or Chaource.
Service and Storage
For optimal storage, it is recommended to keep this Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Fuées" 2023 at a constant temperature of between 10 and 14°C, with humidity of around 70%, away from light. While it can be enjoyed in its youth, this wine has great ageing potential and will reveal its full splendour until around 2035, or even beyond for those who favour more evolved profiles.
The Elegance and Depth of a Premier Cru from Chambolle-Musigny
The Estate
Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley stands out as one of the most prestigious family-owned estates in Burgundy, France. Now led by the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, the estate oversees a vast vineyard of over 120 hectares spread across the region's finest appellations. Combining respect for tradition with a spirit of innovation, the estate is also distinguished by its strong environmental commitment, crowned by organic farming certification, ensuring wines that express the full richness of their terroirs.
The Vineyard
This cuvée comes from a tiny 0.18-hectare plot located on the northern slope of the village of Chambolle-Musigny, in the immediate vicinity of the Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru. Benefiting from exceptional sun exposure, this terroir is distinguished by its deep clay-limestone soils. The vines, planted in 1944 and 2011, are hand-harvested and yield a wine that is at once concentrated, fresh and vibrant.
The Vintage
The 2023 vintage is characterised by fine structure, preserved acidity and optimal tannic development. These conditions have produced a wine with great vitality, preserving the brightness of its fruit aromas while ensuring remarkable ageing potential in the bottle.
Winemaking and Ageing
After careful manual sorting, the grapes ferment in wooden vats under the action of indigenous yeasts, with gentle extraction to preserve the freshness of the fruit. This Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Fuées" 2023 is then aged in the estate's historic stone cellars for 14 to 16 months. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels, two-thirds new wood and one-third once-used barrels, allowing woody notes to be subtly integrated without masking the identity of the terroir.
Grape Variety
100% Pinot Noir.
