Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Mercurey Village "Clos Rochette" Monopole 2024 from Domaine Faiveley
Tasting
Appearance
The wine shows a pale yellow hue with brilliant highlights, typical of the white wines of Mercurey crafted on this clay-limestone terroir.
Nose
The nose unveils an alluring, complex bouquet, blending white flowers with spicy notes for a fresh and expressive aromatic profile.
Palate
The attack is fresh and lively, giving way to a fuller, more unctuous mid-palate, shaped by ageing in oak barrels. The flavours come together harmoniously, leading to a subtle, balanced finish.
Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs beautifully with fish in a light sauce, poultry prepared with cream and mushrooms, and pressed cheeses. It also lends itself to more contemporary pairings, such as dishes based on citrus fruits or shellfish coated in a butter sauce.
Serving and cellaring
The Mercurey Village "Clos Rochette" Monopole 2024 is ideally served between 12 and 14°C. According to the estate, this wine has an ageing potential of five to seven years, meaning it can be enjoyed until around 2029-2031.
A white monopole from Domaine Faiveley in the heart of Mercurey
The estate
Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges by Pierre Faiveley, Domaine Faiveley is now run by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, the seventh generation of the family at the helm of the house. This benchmark Burgundy estate extends over approximately 120 hectares, spread across the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise. Since 2025, its entire vineyard has been farmed organically, making Domaine Faiveley one of the largest certified estates in Burgundy.
The vineyard
The Mercurey Village "Clos Rochette" comes from a 5.45-hectare monopole plot, owned by the estate since 1933. Facing south-east, this climat rests on hard, compact clay-limestone soils scattered with small outcropping rocks, which gave the lieu-dit its name. The vineyard, planted over successive generations, is farmed organically.
Vinification and ageing
The Mercurey Village "Clos Rochette" Monopole 2024 is aged in oak barrels, which lend it its roundness and unctuous texture on the mid-palate, while preserving the freshness and aromatic precision of the wine.
Grape variety
This wine is made from Chardonnay, the emblematic grape variety of the white wines of the Mercurey appellation.
