A Montagny Village from Domaine Faiveley, Balancing Freshness and Minerality in the Côte Chalonnaise
The Estate
Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges by Pierre Faiveley, Domaine Faiveley is today one of the largest family-owned estates in Burgundy, with approximately 120 hectares spread across the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise. Run by the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, the estate combines family tradition with modernisation, notably through its conversion to organic farming and its achievement of Level 3 High Environmental Value certification in 2019.
The Vineyard
The Montagny Village "Les Cent Pièces" comes from fewer than five hectares of vines planted on the climats Le Reuilly and Les Joncs, within the Montagny appellation in the Côte Chalonnaise. The vines, around thirty years old, stretch across east- to south-east-facing slopes at altitudes of up to 400 metres. The marl and clay soils are very stony and benefit from resurgent springs, which contribute to even ripening.
Winemaking and Ageing
The Montagny Village "Les Cent Pièces" 2024 is aged for twelve months, with approximately 20% in French oak barrels, 10% of which are new. Regular lees stirring adds texture and complexity while preserving the aromatic purity of the Chardonnay.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from Chardonnay.
