Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Poissenot" 2022 from Domaine Humbert Frères
Tasting
Appearance
The colour reveals a deep, sparkling ruby hue, retaining a beautiful brilliance without any opacity.
Nose
Expressive and highly complex, the nose exudes aromas of fresh red fruits such as raspberry and redcurrant. It is enriched by floral notes reminiscent of potpourri, along with subtle spicy touches of cinnamon, clove and delicate pepper.
Palate
The palate is seductive with its supple, harmonious texture, supported by silky, perfectly integrated tannins. Vibrant acidity brings remarkable tension, highlighting the brightness of the fruit. The tasting extends into a long, persistent finish, intensely saline and mineral.
Food and wine pairings
This red wine pairs wonderfully with roasted meats such as beef fillet or duck breast with red fruit sauce. It also pairs beautifully with feathered or furred game, as well as traditional dishes like coq au vin. As for cheese, it enhances well-aged varieties such as Époisses or a mature Comté.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Poissenot" 2022, it is best served at a temperature between 15 and 16°C, or slightly below 18°C after moderate aeration. This wine can be enjoyed from 2025, but its potential allows it to age favourably in the cellar until around 2032.

The estate
Created in its current form in 1989, Domaine Humbert Frères is a family-owned estate located in the heart of Burgundy, France. Spanning around 7 hectares, this discreet estate is now run by Emmanuel Humbert, recently joined by his nephew Pierre-Yves. Drawing on a heritage spanning several generations, they carry on artisanal expertise and sustainable viticulture to showcase Pinot Noir at its best. Renowned for the quality and consistency of its cuvées, the estate stands out as a discreet yet essential reference point in the Côte de Nuits.
The vineyard
The Poissenot climat is located in the north-western part of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. This unique terroir stands out for its particularly cool microclimate and exceptionally fine soil, composed of 80% active limestone with only around twenty centimetres of topsoil resting on the bedrock. The old vines, aged between forty and eighty years, are grown according to the principles of sustainable viticulture and benefit from HVE certification, guaranteeing deep respect for the environment and biodiversity.
The vintage
Although recent years have generally been marked by episodes of heat and drought, the natural characteristics of this high-altitude terroir played an essential regulating role. The shallow limestone soil helped limit water supply while preserving slow ripening of the berries, thus ensuring a perfect balance between concentration and natural freshness.
Winemaking and aging
The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Poissenot" 2022 is crafted using traditional methods. After careful destemming, the grapes undergo long macerations punctuated by regular punching down and pumping over to gently extract colour and aromas. The wine is then aged for an extended period in oak barrels for sixteen to eighteen months, adding patina and complexity without masking the identity of the terroir.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
