Description
A round and delicious Beaujolais wine
The estate
Since 1772, the Louis-Claude Desvignes estate has been established in the heart of the Morgon appellation in the Beaujolais. Louis-Claude Desvignes, an iconic figure of the Beaujolais region, has elevated the estate which is now considered as one of the most renowned references in the region. The Desvignes wines are unanimously acclaimed by the press and international critics alike. Claude-Emmanuelle and Louis-Benoît, the family’s 8th generation of winegrowers, are currently at the head of the estate.
The vineyard
Louis-Claude Desvignes' vineyard represents 11 hectares spread over 3 different climates. The Morgon Voûte Saint-Vincent wine by the Louis-Claude Desvignes estate is made from vines that are 45 years old on average and are planted in a 4.51-hectare vineyard to the north of Morgon, not far from Fleurie and Chiroubles. The Douby climate stands out due to its disintegrated granite soils with a sandy surface. The vineyard is in the process of obtaining an organic farming certificat, and the estate uses products that are in line with the regulations of organic farming.
The vinification and ageing
Once the Gamay grapes have been harvested, they are sorted on a conveyor belt. The vinification is carried out in the traditional manner, with 50% destemming. Vatting lasts 10 days. The wine is aged in concrete vats for 8 months.
The blend
The 2019 Morgon La Voûte Saint-Vincent by the Louis-Claude Desvignes estate is a 100% Gamay.
The tasting
This 2019 Morgon La Voûte Saint-Vincent by the Louis-Claude Desvignes estate presents delicate and delicious notes of sloes and red fruit. Well-balanced and powerful, this wine is round and reveals beautiful flavours in the mouth, combining crisp fruit with fine tannins.
