Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Beaune 1er Cru "Les Vignes Franches" 2022 Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a deep red hue, almost black at its core, adorned with dense purple highlights.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with fine floral and fruity complexity, blending aromas of ripe red and black fruits such as cherry and raspberry. With aeration, subtle spice notes, herbaceous touches and delicate woody, toasted nuances emerge.
Palate
The attack is fleshy and supple, offering vibrant fruit underpinned by a fine minerality. The structure rests on fine, silky tannins, perfectly integrated, along with a bright acidity. The finish is persistent, extending the pleasure with notes of red fruits and sweet spices.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with dishes of character such as beef bourguignon, roast duck breast or game meats like pheasant or venison. It also goes very well with mushroom-based dishes, roast poultry, or a platter of mature cheeses, particularly Comté or Saint-Nectaire.
Service and storage
To fully appreciate this great Burgundy wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of between 16 and 17°C, taking care to decant it or open it 30 to 45 minutes before tasting. This wine offers great ageing potential and can be cellared until around 2032.
The authentic expression of a Beaune terroir by Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils
The estate
Located in the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils is the legacy of seven generations of winegrowers. Officially founded in 1992, the estate today spans a vineyard spread across several prestigious appellations. Since 1999, Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau has headed the property, upholding a philosophy centred on respect for the terroir and minimal intervention. Under his leadership, the estate has modernised its facilities while adopting environmentally friendly practices, thereby affirming its identity as a leading producer.
The vineyard
The plot from which this wine originates is located on the Les Vignes Franches climat, within the Beaune appellation. This mid-slope terroir, facing south, rests on soils composed of red clay and limestone, dotted with small pebbles that promote excellent drainage. The vines are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming and biodynamics, ensuring grapes of exceptional quality.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by particularly mild and warm climatic conditions in France, favouring optimal ripening of the berries. This sunny growing season allowed for excellent natural sugar development within the grapes throughout the season.
Winemaking and ageing
For this cuvée, the grapes are harvested by hand at optimal phenolic ripeness. The grapes are destemmed and then subjected to a cold maceration before fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for one year in oak barrels, 30% of which are new, followed by an additional four months in stainless steel tanks. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, in accordance with the lunar calendar.
