Tasting
Colour
The wine displays a medium to deep ruby hue.
Nose
Initially reserved, the bouquet opens up to aromas of brown spices and earth, intricately woven with notes of red and black fruits such as blackcurrant, redcurrant and plum.
Palate
Full-bodied and structured, the palate offers a lovely fruity richness supported by lively acidity and firm tannins. It all leads to an energetic, long and harmonious finish.
Food and wine pairing
This Grand Cru is an ideal match for full-flavoured meats such as roast duck, grilled lamb chops or veal fillet with mushrooms. It also pairs beautifully with hard cooked cheeses or washed-rind cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
To fully enjoy the Clos de Vougeot Grand cru 2021, serve it at 17°C after decanting for around 30 minutes. With its solid structure, this wine has excellent ageing potential and can be enjoyed until around 2051.
Other characteristics
This dry red wine from France is produced in very limited quantities, reflecting the estate's high standards and precision.
The elegance and depth of a Burgundy Grand Cru
The estate
Founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche, Domaine Nicole Lamarche is located in Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of Burgundy. Formerly known as François Lamarche, the estate of around twelve hectares is now run by Nicole Lamarche. Since taking the helm, she has raised the estate to the ranks of the region's benchmarks by prioritising finesse and a transparent expression of terroir. Certified organic since 2010, the estate stands out for its environmentally friendly practices, producing wines of great purity.
The vineyard
The wine comes from the renowned Clos Vougeot, a historic walled terroir. The estate owns several plots spread across different sectors, notably near the château to the north-west and on the south-eastern slope, offering a complete and complex expression of this Grand Cru. Rooted in soils rich in clay and limestone, the vines are farmed according to organic and biodynamic principles. Plot-by-plot work is meticulous, with controlled yields and horse ploughing to preserve the vitality of the soils.
Winemaking and ageing
After an entirely manual harvest, the grapes destined for the Clos de Vougeot Grand cru 2021 undergo rigorous sorting in the vineyard and then on a vibrating table. The grapes are mostly destemmed before being transferred by gravity into open wooden vats. A cold pre-fermentation maceration precedes a vatting period of 15 to 18 days. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, with a moderate proportion of new oak of between 20 and 40%, in order to preserve the brightness of the fruit. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
