The elegance and depth of a Pinot Noir from Chassagne-Montrachet by Domaine Ramonet
The estate
Founded in the late 1920s by Pierre Ramonet, Domaine Ramonet is a true institution in Burgundy. Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, France, this historic property today extends over 17 hectares. A pioneer of exports to the United States, the estate built its global renown on its prestigious terroirs. Currently run by Jean-Claude Ramonet, supported by his daughters, the family estate perpetuates an exacting philosophy focused on sustainable viticulture, low yields and absolute respect for the soils, thus revealing the quintessence of each Climat.
The vineyard
Coming from the eastern part of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, the Climat of La Boudriotte rests on complex clay-limestone soils. The earth here displays characteristic reddish hues, linked to a high concentration of iron oxides and manganese. The vines, over fifty years old and covering around one hectare, benefit from an ideal exposure and cool nights. Cultivated using sustainable viticulture with meticulous work of the soils, this terroir gives the wine remarkable mineral tension and density.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage stands out for its sunny climatic conditions, which favoured excellent ripeness of the berries. Perfectly mastered by the estate, this generous vintage made it possible to maintain an ideal balance, offering an abundance of fruit while preserving a beautiful natural freshness.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand in order to preserve the integrity of the bunches. The vinification of the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos De La Boudriotte" 2022 is conducted gently, with measured extraction to respect the delicacy of the grape variety. The wine then benefits from a precise and moderate aging in oak barrels, usually lasting between twelve and eighteen months, designed to accompany the material without ever masking the identity of the terroir.
