The estate
Founded in 1959, the Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is an essential reference in Alsace. A pioneer of biodynamic viticulture, the estate is dedicated to expressing the full complexity of its terroirs with the utmost fidelity. Under the guidance of Olivier Humbrecht, the first French Master of Wine, the property produces wines of remarkable precision and depth, recognized worldwide.
The vineyard
The Clos Hauserer is an exceptional terroir located at the foot of the Grand Cru Hengst, in Wintzenheim. This vineyard benefits from a warm microclimate and deep marl-limestone soils, ideal for the flourishing of Riesling. The vines are cultivated with the greatest care to reveal all the minerality and power of this Alsace cru.
The case
This Riesling "Clos Hauserer" Case brings together 6 vintages of this exceptional cuvée:
2021
Brilliant appearance, pale yellow with silvery highlights. The nose combines citrus, white-fleshed fruits, and spring flowers with elegant minerality. On the palate, the attack is lively and precise, with great tension and a persistent finish marked by noble bitterness and refreshing salinity.
2020
Lovely pale yellow hue, leading to a nose that is still slightly reserved but already marked by limestone marl, with notes of citrus, wet stone, then acacia and linden blossom with aeration, both discreet and very appealing. On the palate, the attack is broad, the wine coats the palate with harmony and power, revealing ripe fruit and fine complexity. The finish, driven by the cru’s acidity, is taut, mouthwatering, and caressing, promising excellent aging potential.
2019
Opening with a light golden color, this wine stands out for its energetic nose of great mineral purity. The palate is lively, fresh, and mouthwatering, with a savory texture that clearly reflects the limestone presence. This dry white wine charms with its persistence and structure, suggesting significant aging potential.
2018
Pale lemon-yellow color, with a complex nose revealing citrus notes and very pure minerality upon aeration. On the palate, the wine is linear, with acidity that tightens particularly on the finish. The strong mineral imprint brings a mouthwatering quality that lengthens the finish, clean and precise, promising superb aging potential.
2017
The pale yellow color gives way to a nose typical of the terroir, smoky and stony, still reserved but opening with aeration to notes of honey and wax. On the palate, the wine impresses with its purity and a sense of serenity, with restrained power. The persistent finish stretches out thanks to ripe, savory acidity, and its great stability in the air suggests excellent aging potential.
2016
Beautiful pale yellow color. The already expressive nose combines ripe pear and citrus with a clear limestone signature (toasty, flinty, aromatic herbs), with a reductive character that should intensify over time. On the palate, the attack is elegant before the wine gains in breadth and power. The finish, initially rich and enveloping, is then taken over by an acidity that tightens and refreshes, leaving a mouthwatering, complex impression built for slow evolution.
