Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Pouilly-Fuissé Village "La Chaneau" 2022 by Domaine Leflaive
Tasting
Boasting beautiful substance and a remarkable acidic tension, this wine combines freshness, minerality and textural richness. Its dense structure, sustained by careful ageing, gives it a singular energy and excellent cellaring potential.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with firm-fleshed fish (turbot, pike-perch, roasted sea bass) served with lightly creamy sauces, or with pan-seared scallops. It also enhances poultry dishes, such as roast chicken or chicken with cream and morels, as well as aged cheeses such as Comté, Brie or Chaource.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the Pouilly-Fuissé Village "La Chaneau" 2022, it is recommended to serve it between 11 and 13°C. Aerating it for half an hour to an hour before tasting is advised to release all its complexity. This wine offers a cellaring potential of several years.

The estate
Founded in 1905 by Joseph Leflaive, Domaine Leflaive is a true icon of Burgundy, historically rooted in Puligny-Montrachet. A pioneer, the estate distinguished itself with its complete conversion to biodynamics as early as 1997 under the impetus of Anne-Claude Leflaive. Now led by Brice de la Morandière, the domaine spans more than forty hectares. Combining family tradition, technical rigour and absolute respect for terroir, this illustrious house enjoys worldwide renown for the purity and elegance of its white wines.
The vineyard
This Pouilly-Fuissé comes from the tiny "La Chaneau" lieu-dit, covering just 0.2760 hectare. Ideally located at the foot of the emblematic Roche de Solutré, the vines thrive on a steep, due-east-facing slope. This singular terroir stands out for its clay-limestone soils, particularly rich in iron, giving the earth its characteristic ochre hue. The entire plot is rigorously cultivated according to biodynamic principles, with harvests carried out entirely by hand to preserve the integrity of the fruit.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage follows in the line of recent vintages marked by episodes of heat and drought. These sun-drenched weather conditions demanded meticulous monitoring and a rigorous plot-by-plot follow-up of berry ripeness in order to determine the optimal harvest date and preserve the natural balance of the grapes.
Winemaking and ageing
After meticulous sorting, the grapes for the Pouilly-Fuissé Village "La Chaneau" 2022 undergo a long, gentle pneumatic pressing in the Mâconnais. The musts are then transported to Puligny-Montrachet after a 24-hour settling period. Following racking, alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place entirely in oak barrels. Ageing extends over 15 to 16 months: an initial phase of around 12 months in barrels on the lees, followed by 6 months of rest in tank on fine lees. The wine finally benefits from homeopathic fining and very light filtration before bottling.
