Description
The aromatic expression and structure of an Argentine white wine
The estate
El Enemigo was born from the joint desire of Adrianna Catena and Alejandro Vigil, the master winemaker of the famous Bodega Catena Zapata since 2002, to create exceptional wines in the heart of the Mendoza region. Thus, in 2007, these two enthusiasts founded El Enemigo, literally meaning “the enemy”, as well as the Bodega Aleanna winery. The estate quickly gained global success, notably thanks to its Cabernet Franc Gran Enemigo Gualtallary.
The vineyard
Located near the Andes Mountains in Argentina, El Enemigo overlooks a vineyard situated between 930 and over 1470 meters above sea level, where a variety of limestone, rocky and clay soils form remarkable terroirs for viticulture.
The wine
“Gualtallary” is a Mendoza wine from a terroir located at 1,600 meters altitude on limestone and rocky soils.
The vintage
The particularly favorable conditions throughout the year allowed for the harvesting of grapes with optimal acidity, exceptional concentration, and maturity.
Winemaking and aging
This wine is vinified with indigenous yeasts in amphorae for 12 days. It is then aged for 18 months in 500-liter French oak barrels.
Grape variety
Gran Enemigo Torrontés 2022 is 100 % Torrontés.
