Description

A balanced and aromatic Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru

The estate

Historically established since 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, at the heart of Côte de Nuits, the Faiveley family is at the head of one of the most beautiful estates in Burgundy. Domaine Faiveley produces very fine Burgundy wines through combining the respect for tradition with modernity. The vines are thus operated through sustainable viticulture, which aims to preserve the diversity of flora and fauna. With a wide range of wines which showcase great accuracy and precision, Domaine Faiveley is a vital reference from Burgundy.

The Domaine Faiveley vineyard covers an area of over 120 hectares of vines spread between Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. This exceptional wine-growing heritage brings together superb Grand and Premier Cru plots which embody the essence of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The vineyard

The Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru by Domaine Faiveley is a Burgundy wine that comes from a terroir on the Gevrey-Chambertin commune. Although the total appellation area is around 30 hectares, this cuvée is made from a 0.81-hectare, east-facing vineyard, planted on shallow, clay-limestone soils.

Winemaking and ageing

Following manual harvests, the harvested grapes undergo a short, pre-fermentation maceration. Vatting lasts for 15 to 18 days at low temperatures. Ageing lasts for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels (1/3 of which are new) in vaulted, 19th century cellars.

Blend

Pinot Noir (100%).
