Description

A great red wine from Burgundy, full-bodied and beautifully lively

The estate

Since 1825, the Domaine Faiveley has been firmly rooted in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, the cradle of some of the greatest red wines of Burgundy. Under the impetus of the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, this family house continues to shine with its know-how and its demand for quality. With over 120 hectares of vineyards, it is among the most extensive and prestigious in the region, and stands out for the richness of its wine heritage, made up of exceptional parcels in Grands Crus and Premiers Crus.

The vineyard

Born in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the estate has gradually expanded towards the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, now cultivating 12 Grands Crus and 25 Premiers Crus. Among its jewels, the Clos Vougeot stands out for its historical and viticultural aura. Defined as early as the 14th century and walled since the 15th, this legendary 50-hectare vineyard is shared between 82 owners. Domaine Faiveley owns three remarkable parcels there.

Vinification and aging

The grapes are harvested by hand before undergoing a short pre-fermentation maceration phase. Fermentation takes place in wooden truncated vats, with an extended maceration of more than three weeks. A gentle pressing then allows the extraction of highly precise juices. The wine is then aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 60% new and 40% having contained a wine, in the historic vaulted cellars of the estate dating from the 19th century.

Grape variety

100% pinot noir.
