2011 Clos des Cortons Grand Cru (Pinot Noir)

Clos des Cortons Faiveley is the only Grand Cru to carry the name of the estate owner: Georges Faiveley. Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru is a Pinot Noir from old vines.

The 2011 vintage reveals quite intense, black hue and powerful yet concentrated nose with hints of fruit and wood. Robust attack with strong, firm tannins, and thick texture. A superior Burgundy, known for high volume, supple tannins, and lovely persistence. Great wine for keep. Should drink well between 2021 and 2026.

    Wine Advocate-Parker :
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. There is clearly some new oak that needs to be resolved on Faiveley's Corton Clos de Corton '11. The fruit here is darker compared to its peers: black cherries, blackcurrant leaf and a dab of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied and modern in style: supple, juicy ripe red and black fruits and quite structured toward the finish, though it lacks some complexity and charm and comes across as aloof. Give this one or two more years in bottle, because there is clearly good substance here to build upon.
