The estate
Founded in 1700, Feudi del Pisciotto is among Sicily’s oldest estates. Located in the southeast of the island in the province of Caltanissetta, the vineyard covers 44 hectares in the heart of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG appellation. Under the direction of Alessandro Cellai and Marco Parisi, the estate carries on the legacy of Giacomo Tachis, combining age-old traditions with contemporary approaches. The estate stands out for its unique gravity-flow system and the preservation of a Palmento kept intact since its creation.
The vineyard
The frappato vines behind this cuvée are grown in Niscemi, in the province of Caltanissetta in Sicily. Planted at an altitude of 100 meters, they thrive on medium-textured soils. Trained in Royat cordon, the vineyard has a planting density of 6,000 vines per hectare for a controlled yield of 60 quintals per hectare.
Winemaking and aging
The harvest takes place during the second half of August. After hand-picking, the wine is vinified in stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in full. This IGT Terre Siciliane wine then undergoes four months of aging in stainless-steel tanks, followed by two months of bottle aging before release.
Grape variety
Frappato (100%).
