A Corbières Wine from a Centuries-Old Viticultural Heritage
The Estate
Founded in 1992 by Gérard Bertrand after taking over the family estate in 1987, this Languedoc wine group now brings together 16 châteaux and estates across Occitanie. Led by Gérard Bertrand, the fourth generation of a winemaking lineage, the company has a presence in 175 countries. A pioneer of large-scale biodynamics since 2002 and a former professional rugby player, he has revolutionized the image of the Languedoc by offering premium cuvées from exceptional terroirs, from the Mediterranean to the Corbières.
The Vineyard
Les Arbousiers "Cuvée 100" is produced from a historic parcel located in the heart of the Corbières appellation, in the Fontfroide area. This centuries-old vineyard was first cultivated in 1920 by Paule Bertrand, bearing witness to the exceptional family heritage. This emblematic plot showcases carignan, the grape variety characteristic of the Corbières region.
Vinification and Aging
The grapes for Les Arbousiers "Cuvée 100" 2020 are hand-harvested at optimal maturity from selected parcels. The carignan undergoes whole-cluster vinification while the grenache is destemmed for a traditional fermentation. Fermentation is controlled between 26 and 27°C. Maceration lasts 10 to 15 days depending on the grape varieties. Aging takes place over 18 months in French oak barrels.
Grape Varieties
This Languedoc wine is a Blend of carignan and grenache noir.
