Description

Tasting advice for Henschke's Keyneton Euphonium 2018

Tasting

Colour
Purple dress with violet reflections.

Nose
Intense, the nose reveals fruity notes (blackberry, blackcurrant, satsuma plum, blueberry, anise), floral (violet) as well as black pepper and cedar.

Palate
Combining richness and concentration, the palate delicately combines delicious aromas of black plum, blackberry and blackcurrant. The palate is seduced by its refined structure, its persistence as well as its fine tannins.

Keeping

This Barossa Valley red wine can wait in cellars until around 2043.

A powerful and elegant wine from Southern Australia

The property

Henschke is a renowned family property located in the Barossa wine region in Australia, with a wine history dating back over 150 years. Known for its commitment to sustainable and artisanal viticultural practices, the Henschke family is dedicated to producing expressive wines that reflect the unique character of their terroirs. Henry’s Seven pays tribute to a visionary ancestor, Henry Evans, a pioneer of viticulture in this region in the 19th century.

The vineyard

Keyneton Euphonium is a tribute to the village of Keyneton, where the family established its wine roots in the 19th century.
This Barossa Valley wine is made from vineyards where the higher altitude and rocky soils bring freshness and finesse to the wines. The vines are cultivated following ecological practices, with particular attention to biodiversity and the preservation of soil health.

Vinification and ageing

18 months ageing in oak barrels (of which 20% are new) 71% from France and 29% from the United States.

Blend

Shiraz (65%), cabernet sauvignon (23%), cabernet franc (9%) and merlot (3%) from Eden and Barossa Valley.
