Description
Tasting notes and characteristics of the J.-A. Ferret Mâcon-Fuissé 2023
Tasting
Appearance
This wine reveals a crystalline robe with pale yellow and golden highlights.
Nose
Fresh and particularly enticing, the aromatic bouquet unveils lovely notes of citrus fruits and acacia blossom. It is further enhanced by scents of stone fruits, such as white peach and pear, underlined by a delicate touch of fresh hazelnut and a subtle minerality.
Palate
The attack is generous, opening onto a round and remarkably fresh palate. Supported by fine acidity and an elegant minerality, this wine stretches towards a flavoursome and lingering finish.
Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs beautifully with grilled white fish, seafood or poultry served with a light sauce. It will also enhance a creamy risotto as well as fresh goat cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal tasting, this wine should be served at a temperature between 8 and 10°C. Approachable in its youth, it can also rest in the cellar to be enjoyed until around 2028.

The estate
Founded in 1840 in the heart of the Mâconnais, Domaine J.-A. Ferret is a true institution in Burgundy. Historically led by talented women, this pioneering property has preserved its identity while developing a rigorous parcel-based approach. Acquired in 2008, it now belongs to the renowned Maison Louis Jadot, which has succeeded in maintaining the independence and excellence of this prestigious name. Now under the technical direction of Clément Robinet, the estate spans approximately 18 hectares and continues to shine through its terroir wines, certified organic.
The vineyard
The grapes used for this Mâcon-Fuissé wine come from two specific plots located in the commune of Fuissé, aged 20 and 30 years respectively. They benefit from an eastern exposure, within the natural amphitheatre of the village. This singular terroir is composed of acidic soils dating back to the Primary era, blending volcanic-sedimentary sandstone rocks with residual clays containing flint nodules, located just above the lieu-dit "Les Perrières". Harvesting is carried out by hand.
The vintage
The year was marked by particularly demanding weather conditions. The growing cycle was notably affected by a hailstorm that occurred right in the middle of flowering. This climatic event impacted yields, requiring constant attention in the vineyards to bring the remaining bunches to optimal ripeness.
Winemaking and aging
The crafting of this wine is the subject of meticulous attention in the cellar. To preserve all the freshness and purity of the fruit, fermentation and ageing on lees take place entirely in stainless steel tanks. Bottling was then carried out in July 2024.
