Description
Les Ruchets 2016 of Jean-Luc Colombo : a distinguished red wine
The Cornas Les Ruchets of Jean-Luc Colombo is a 100% Syrah red wine produced in the Cornas appellation. The old vines, 90 years old on average, benefit from the granitic soil of the Chaillot hills, upon which rests a layer of Rameal Chipped wood. Jean-Luc Colombo's Les Ruchets cuvee is aged in oak barrels for 18 months.
The 2016 vintage at Domaine Jean-Luc Colombo was marked by an extremely mild winter. The rains of February established a good water reserve before budburst in early April. The development of the vine was then slowed down for 15 days by a cold wave. Spring saw plenty of rainfall before the arrival of a summer, which was generally hot but also marked by a few cool days (15° C on 14th of July, for example). Organic agricultural practices carried out on the estate allowed the vines to manage perfectly these complex conditions. The harvest of Ruchets took place late, from the 28th of September to the 11th of October with more volume than in the 2015 vintage.
The Cornas Les Ruchets 2016 by Jean-Luc Colombo displays a pretty dark ruby colour. Pretty spicy, the nose reveals hints of cocoa and tobacco. Jean-Luc Colombo's Les Ruchets 2016 is a full-bodied cuvee with a beautiful structure on the palate, with ripe, tight tannins on the finish. This wine will reveal a great elegance as it ages.
